Collings Foundation
As a part of research for Prisoner of War, I was privileged with the opportunity of touring the B-24 Liberator in person and even riding on a flight. This was made possible by the Collings Foundation, a nonprofit educational organization that helps to keep history alive.
From the website: “The purpose of the Collings Foundation is to organize and support ‘living history’ events and the presentation of historical artifacts and content that enable Americans to learn more about their heritage through direct participation.”
One of the major focuses of the foundation is the Wings of Freedom tour. Each year a team of fully restored WWII aircraft tour the U.S., stopping at many cities around the nation and offering ground tours and flight experiences.
